# Cookies

The cookies and on-device storage Fanmoot uses, what each is for, how long it lasts, and how to change your choice.

Canonical: https://fanmoot.com/cookies

Fanmoot uses a handful of cookies to keep you signed in and remember your choices. No advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking — ever.

## Strictly necessary

These make Fanmoot work, so they cannot be switched off. The law does not require consent for them, but you should still know they are there.

- fm_refresh — keeps you signed in; sent only to the sign-in service. Until you sign out, or 90 days.
- fm_session — tells a public page you are signed in, so it does not ask you to join. Same lifetime.
- fm_consent — remembers the choice you make below. 180 days.
- fm_console and fm_csrf — staff sign-in to the admin console only.

## Stored on your device

The app also keeps a few things in your browser's own storage, never sent to anyone: your light or dark theme, whether you dismissed the install and notification prompts, and — for an installed app — the last page of your feed and any posts written offline, so it works with no signal. Signing out clears the feed copy.

## Analytics

Fanmoot does not run analytics at the moment. If it does, it will only load after you choose Accept all.

## Other sites

Embedded videos load only when you press play, and are served by their own provider under its own cookie policy. A partner link takes you to the partner's site, which has its own cookies.
